Cantaritos
If you love a grapefruit paloma or a classic margarita, you’re going to love this unique Mexican cocktail. Cantaritos are made with a blend of citrus juices, tequila and grapefruit soda served in a traditional clay pot, or cantarito de barro.

Why we love the cantaritos drink
Thanks to the grapefruit soda, this cocktail is crisp, bubbly and refreshing. It’s perfect for warm weather months, but it’s also a great way to celerbate citrus season this winter.
The traditional cups they’re served in aren’t just cute. They also keep your drink colder for long, which is great when it’s hot outside.
According to Mexican tradition, as you just your citrus fruits, you should fill a large bowl with discarded rinds along with all your bad vibes from the day. Then, you toss the contents – bad vibes included.

How to make this cantaritos recipe
Rim your glass. Most of the time, cataritos are rimmed with a combo of Tajin and chamoy, which is a fruity Mexican condiment made with mango and/or apricot and dried chiles.
If you don’t have that, just swipe and lime and dip the cantarito cup in Tajin. Fill with ice and set aside.
Mix the cocktail. Combine the tequila and juices in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake until cold.
Pour and serve. Strain the drink into your prepared cantarito cup and top with grapefruit soda. Garnish with a citrus wedge before serving.
