Grinch Mimosa Cocktail

This grinch mimosa cocktail is a light, tropical twist on the traditional mimosa with a vibrant green hue that even the Grinch might envy. This Christmas morning cocktail is made for opening presents and if you’re not careful, it might even help your heart grow a size or two.

Why we love this grinch cocktail

  • The simplicity of the grinch mimosa cocktail is unbeatable. It’s made with just three ingredients – melon liqueur, pineapple juice and sparkling wine.
  • It’s perfect for sipping on Christmas morning while the kids open their presents.
  • Garnish with a maraschino cherry to give it that Grinch heart appearance.

Ingredients & Substitutions

  • Midori – This melon liqueur gives the grinch cocktail its signature color.
  • Pineapple juice – I’ve chosen this tropical citrus juice in lieu of orange juice, mainly because it helps boost the vibrant color. The flavor also pairs wonderfully with the melon liqueur.
  • Prosecco – Any sparkling wine will work here, but I usually opt for prosecco because it’s reasonably priced and not too sweet.

Making changes to a recipe can result in recipe failure. Any substitutions listed below are simple changes that I believe will work in this recipe, but results are not guaranteed.

How to make a Grinch mimosa cocktail

Chill your ingredients. Make sure your Midori and pineapple juice a chilled. Since we’re not using ice in this mimosa, you want to get it as cold as you can.

Mix the mimosa. Add the Midori and pineapple juice to a champagne flute. Then, top with prosecco.

Garnish and serve. Add a maraschino cherry to give it a Grinchy look and serve immediately.

Frequently asked questions

What alcohol is best for mimosas?

Champagne is the main alcohol component of a mimosa. We like to use prosecco usually. This cocktail twist also contains melon liqueur. The Midori adds the bright green color and a sweet, subtle melon flavor to the grinch mimosa cocktail.

What juices go in mimosas?

Traditionally, mimosas are made using orange juice. Variations of mimosas using different juices have been concocted over the years. Any citrus juice pairs great with prosecco, but what is important in the recipe is the color of the cocktail. To achieve the vibrant grinch green, pineapple juice is the best choice.
