Why we love these polar bear shots
- Easy, two-ingredient shots are some of my favorites to serve for parties. They’re easy to mix up while you’re chatting away, and they’re easy to batch ahead of time.
- This shot is the perfect combination of mint and chocolate, and even though it’s clear like a polar bear’s fur, it’s full of flavor.
Here’s what you’ll need to make it

Equipment
Ingredients & substitutions
- Peppermint schnapps – You can also use creme de menthe, peppermint vodka or another mint liqueur.
- Creme de cacao – I like to use creme de cacao because it isn’t creamy, but you can substitute a different chocolate flavored liqueur. Whatever you have will work.
How to make polar bear shot
Freeze your glasses. Place your shot glasses in the freezer for at least 30 minutes before mixing your drinks.
This is optional but the frosted shot glasses give the polar bear shots a crisp, icy presentation. Plus, cold shots always taste best.
Shake the shots. Fill the cocktail shaker with ice and add the peppermint schnapps and creme de cacao. Cover and shake until really cold. Strain and serve in your chilled shot glasses.
