Why I love this southern comfort cocktail
Here’s what you’ll need to make it
Equipment:
Ingredients:
- Southern Comfort – This is essential for a Southern Comfort cocktail, so swapping it out won’t work. If you have to swap it out, a flavored whiskey such as this honey whiskey would be your best choice.
- Amaretto – You can swap the amaretto for another nut-based liqueur, such as Frangelico. You can also use orgeat or creme de noyaux.
- Fresh lime juice – If you don’t have limes, you can use bottle lime juice or fresh lemon juice.
- Grenadine – Store bought grenadine with food coloring while give you a better color in this cocktail, but homemade grenadine is always a great option.
- Ginger beer – If you can’t find ginger beer, you can substitute a quality ginger ale.
How to make southern comfort cocktails
Shake the cocktail. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Combine the Southern Comfort, amaretto and juices. Shake until cold.
Top with ginger beer. Strain the cocktail between two glasses filled with crushed ice. Fill the glasses the rest of the way with ginger beer.
Garnish and serve. Place an orange slice and maraschino cherry on a cocktail pick and add it to the cocktails before serving.
faqs about southern comfort cocktails
Southern Comfort is a very unique type of whiskey, with a distinct spicy sweetness. It’s a little lighter on the alcohol content than traditional whiskey and makes a sweeter cocktail with a more subtle flavor.
