Tokyo Iced Tea
Midori is back in style and there’s no better way to celebrate than with a Tokyo Iced Tea – also called a Tokyo Tea. This tropical twist on the long island a little lighter but just as delicious as the original.
Why we love tokyo iced tea
- Similar to the AMF drink, this rather strong drink surprisingly has a light and mellow fruity taste.
- The beautiful, electric green color of this cocktail is fun for any festive occasion, try making it for Halloween or even Christmas.
- If you like a long island iced tea, chances are, you’ll love this drink.

Garnish and serve. Top with lemon lime soda and garnish with a lime wheel and a cherry.
Everything you need to know about tokyo tea
The tokyo iced tea packs a punch just like its more commonly known counterpart, the long island iced tea. While the base of the cocktail is pretty much the same (gin, rum, tequila and vodka), the midori brings a vibrant fruity twist to the classic strong cocktail.
As with a lot of cocktail recipes, the origin of this glowing, green cocktail is up for debate. This cocktail may or may not have been created in Tokyo, but either way, Midori is a Japanese liqueur. Whether created in or inspired by Tokyo, this version of a long island iced tea features a luminous, neon hue that gives you the feeling of the bright, neon lights the city of Tokyo is so famously known for.
