Why we love this yellow bird cocktail

  • A beautiful vibrant cocktail like this cannot be underestimated. This cocktail is strikingly yellow, plus with it’s tropical vibes – it would be perfect to serve at a Mardi Gras party or anytime you are in the mood for a tropical treat.
  • This drink tastes so much more complicated than it is, but the yellow bird cocktail doesn’t actually require complex ingredients. If you have a bottle of Galliano, I highly recommend you shake up one of these and see how you like it.
  • This caribbean cocktail gained popularity during the 1960s in Hawaii – as a beloved choice and beach resorts and tiki-themed bars. Since, it has become a modern classic cocktail, loved all over the globe.

Ingredients & substitutions

  • Galliano
  • White rum – Feel free to substitute a different type of rum, but I wouldn’t recommend using a spiced rum for this recipe.
  • Cointreau – This is my go-to orange liqueur, but you can swap it out for something like dry curaçao or other orange liqueur. Triple sec will work, but it will increase the sweetness of the drink.
  • Lime juice – Fresh squeezed is best. You could also use fresh lemon juice.

How to make a yellow bird cocktail

Shake your cocktail. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add cocktail ingredients. Cover and shake until chilled – about 30 seconds.

Garnish and serve. Strain into a chilled coupe glass and garnish with a cocktail cherry or a wedge of lime.

    Yellow Bird Cocktail

The yellow bird cocktail is an Italian twist on the tropical and classic daiquiri that has a vibrant yellow hue. Starting with white rum, orange liqueur, and lime juice, this cocktail is spiced up with Galliano, making it a fun fusion of the Mediterranean and the Caribbean.
