Caramel Apple Martini

This simple caramel apple martini is the perfect sweet cocktail for fall. It tastes just like you favorite fall treat, but you can make it anytime you want. Garnish with a slice of apple, a brown sugared rim and some freshly grated nutmeg for a finishing touch.

Why you’ll love this caramel apple martini

  • Caramel sauce is optional. This cocktail gets its caramel apple flavor from a combination of apple cider and butterscotch schnapps.
  • This martini isn’t super sweet. It’s just sweet enough so most palates will enjoy it. I don’t tend to love sweet drinks but this one is just right.
  • It’s a fun way to incorporate fresh apple cider from the orchard into your cocktails, but you can always use apple cider from the supermarket if it’s not in season when you want to make this martini year round. Look for a slightly cloudy option if you can find one.

How to make an apple martini

Rim the glass. Coat a small plate (big enough to fit the top of your glass top on) with caramel sauce. Dip the top of a chilled martini glass in the caramel and the dip it in coarse brown sugar.

Shake the cocktail. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add the apple cider, vodka and butterscotch schnapps. Shake until cold and strain into prepared glasses.

Garnish and serve. Float a thin slice of apple on top or thread it onto a cocktail pick and set it on top of the glass. If desired, grate a tiny bit of fresh nutmeg on the apple.

Quick tip: to prevent the apple slice from browning, dip it in lemon juice or this fresh fruit preserver (you can find this in the canning section of your grocery store).
