Why I love the pornstar martini

  • As you may already know, I’m a huge fan of gin. So when I decided to try making my own pornstar martini at home, I knew that I wanted to experiment with the idea of using gin.
  • It wasn’t the easiest swap because so many recipes call for vanilla flavored vodka, but there just isn’t a good substitute for that. I decided to use vanilla simple syrup, and it ended up working really well.
  • I might say that it’s even better than a pornstar martini with vodka, but I’ll let you be the judge.

Ingredients:

  • Gin – You’ll want to use a good quality gin for this martini, preferably one with notes of vanilla if you can find one.
  • Passionfruit liqueur – Right now we’re using a bottle of Chinola, but you can also use Passoa.
  • Simple syrup – We made vanilla simple syrup for this recipe, but if you have regular simple syrup, you can always add vanilla extract or shake with a vanilla bean instead.
  • Lime juice – Fresh squeezed is best, but bottled will work if you have it.
  • Prosecco – Prosecco is typically used, but really any sparkling wine will work, or you can even substitute club soda for a little fizz.

How to make a pornstar martini with gin

Make the simple syrup. If you don’t have simple syrup made already, mix 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar in a saucepan and heat until the sugar dissolves completely.

Split a vanilla bean in half and add it to a mason jar. Fill the jar with the simple syrup and let it cool to room temperature. Then, refrigerate until you’re ready to use it.

Shake the martini. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add your gin, passionfruit liqueur, simple syrup and lime juice. Shake until cold.

Top with prosecco. Strain the martini into a chilled martini or coupe glass. and top with prosecco. Traditionally, the prosecco is served on the side, but we prefer to add it to our martini.

Garnish and serve. If you have passion fruit, slice one in half and float it on the martini before serving. If you not, you can serve it without a garnish.

faqs about pornstar martinis

What is another name for a pornstar martini?

The pornstar martini – a variation of a passionfruit martini – was originally called the maverick martini, named for the bar where it was created, but it quickly became known by its current name, the pornstar martini.

Are you meant to shoot the prosecco?

The prosecco for a pornstar martini is traditionally served on the side, similar to a chaser served with a bloody mary. You can shoot it, enjoy it separately – sipping it as you drink your martini – or you can mix it into your cocktail. It’s totally up to you.

What alcohol is in passoa?

Passoa is a passionfruit liqueur, which is a main ingredient in the pornstar martini. Alternatively, you can use another brand of passion fruit liqueur, such as Chinola or Difford’s. You could also make your own.
