What you will love about the Aperol sour

  • This sour drink is a great way to ease yourself into the world of bitter cocktails. If you’re not ready for a negroni or a black manhatten, you should try this.
  • The flavor of this cocktail is so complex – sweet, slightly bitter, and definitely unique. It’s just so satisfying.
  • Sometimes, simple ingredients can make a fantastic cocktail, and this is just that.

How to make an aperol sour

Shake the cocktail. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add gin, Aperol, lemon juice and simple syrup. Shake until cold.

Garnish and serve. Strain into a coupe glass and garnish with a lemon twist.

Alternate method: If you want to make this cocktail with egg white, you’ll want to do a dry shake. Combine the ingredients in a cocktail shake with an egg white. Shake for about 30 seconds. Then, add ice to the shaker and shake again until cold. Strain into cocktail glass.

aperol sour: frequently asked questions

What kind of alcohol is Aperol?

Aperol is a bittersweet Italian liqueur with an orange taste. It is great for sipping with appetizers or as a palate cleanser, but also perfect for mixing into a cocktail.

Does Aperol need to be refrigerated?

Once you open a bottle of Aperol, it is best to keep it in the fridge. This will make it last longer, as well as keep its flavor at its best.

Can I substitute Campari for Aperol?

Yes you absolutely can! Just remember that Campari has a more bitter taste that Aperol, so it won’t be quite as sweet, but it will still make a delicious cocktail.
