why you’ll love this drink:

  • Big-batch ready – no shaking or stirring per glass. Just pour, chill, and serve over ice.
  • Floral & citrusy – grapefruit and lavender are an unexpectedly dreamy combo.
  • Light & refreshing – it’s got all the vibes of a glass of rosé, but with way more summery flavor.

Ingredients & Substitutions

  • Vodka
  • Lavender simple syrup
  • Grapefruit juice – Normally, I recommend fresh citrus for cocktails, but for this recipe, I use a bottle of grapefruit juice. It’s just too much juicing otherwise.
  • Rosé wine – I love using a sparkling rosé for this recipe, but I know that isn’t always feasible due to party logistics. Any crisp rosé that isn’t super sweet will work for this recipe.

Making changes to a recipe can result in recipe failure. Any substitutions listed below are simple changes that I believe will work in this recipe, but results are not guaranteed.

Mel’s cocktail tips & tricks

  1. Fresh squeezed is always best. I recommend juicing your limes when you’re making your cocktail, but if you need to prep, do it as close to when you’re serving as possible.
  2. Chill those ingredients. If you plan on assembling this drink right before serving, make sure you chill you ingredients ahead of time!

Frequently asked questions

How long before a party should you make punch?

You can make most of this drink a few days in advance, but hold off on adding the bubbly until you’re ready to serve. I like to batch the rest of the ingredients in a large plastic pitcher and chill it in the fridge until it’s time to fill my dispenser.

How do you keep your punch fizzy?

Hold off on adding the sparkling rosé until you’re ready to serve. If you aren’t going sure if you’ll use it all, only serve half with half the bubbly. You can always refill later!

Ingredients

  • 4 cups vodka
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 1/4 cups lavender simple syrup
  • 6 cups grapefruit juice
  • 1 1/2 cups lime juice
  • 1 750-mL bottle rosé wine, preferably sparkling
  • 1/4 cup grenadine

Instructions

  • Make the lavender syrup. In a small saucepan, combine 1 1/2 cups sugar and 1 1/2 cups water. Bring it to a simmer, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and add 3 tablespoons dried lavender.
Allow the syrup steep for at least 15 minutes, preferably 1 hour. Strain the lavender and transfer to an airtight container. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  • Mix the punch. In a large drink dispenser or punch bowl, combine vodka, water, lavender syrup, grapefruit juice, lime juice, wine and grenadine. Gently stir until everything is well combined.
  • Garnish and serve. Display drink dispenser or punch bowl alongside a bowl of grapefruit slices and ice. Serve each cocktail over ice and garnish with a grapefruit slice.
