Caramel Apple Sangria

This caramel apple sangria is my go-to fall drink when I want something effortless and a little fancy. It’s sweet, crisp, and tastes like a caramel apple in a glass — perfect for Halloween parties, Friendsgiving or just sipping with some friends on a fall night.

Why you’ll love this caramel apple sangria:

This drink was a hit at our Halloween party last year, and it’s super easy to scale up for a drink dispenser. We did ours with 4 bottles of wine – and ingredients to match – and it served plenty.

Plus, sangria is always a great option to prep ahead of time because it gives the fruit time to work its magic and it can be really budget friendly since we’re not buying super expensive bottles of wine to make it.

Ingredients & Substitutions

  • Apples – Any apples will work in this recipe. We like to use honey crisp or cosmic crisp because they retain their texture when soaked, but a granny smith works great too.
  • White wine – I recommend using a sweeter wine for this sangria because we want to enhance the sweetness of the apple cider and caramel flavor. We normally opt for a dry reisling.
  • Apple cider – Any apple cider will work, but a fresh pressed one will have the best flavor.
  • Caramel vodka – This is how we get the caramel flavor in a super easy way. I like Smirnoff caramel vodka for this, but there are plenty of brands on the market.

Making changes to a recipe can result in recipe failure. Any substitutions listed below are simple changes that I believe will work in this recipe, but results are not guaranteed.

Mel’s cocktail tips & tricks

  1. Keep your sangria and club soda separate in the fridge until right before serving. Add the bubbles just before serving.
  2. Serve your sangria in a pitcher with a big slotted spoon so you can get a scoop of fruit into each glass.

Ingredients

  • 2 apples, cored and chopped
  • 1 lime, sliced
  • 1 bottle riesling, or other sweet white wine
  • 2 1/2 cups apple cider
  • 1/2 cup caramel vodka
  • 1 cup club soda

Instructions

  • Mix the sangria. Add the apples, lime, wine, apple cider, and caramel vodka to a large pitcher. Stir to combine and make sure the fruit is covered to prevent browning.
  • Chill overnight. Cover and refrigerate overnight to allow the fruit to infuse the wine with flavor. If you don't have time to chill overnight, make sure you have a least a few hours.
  • Garnish and serve. Just before serving, gently stir in the club soda and serve over ice with a scoop of fruit. If desired, garnish with an additional apple slice.
