Why you’ll love this chocolate cake martini
This recipe originally appeared on my other site Simply Whisked.
Chelsea’s Chocolate Cake Martini isn’t just a drink—it’s a little piece of my heart. Chelsea has always been a huge fan of chocolate martinis—she almost always orders one when we go out. Not too long ago, while I was visiting her in Milwaukee, she stocked up on all the supplies to make them at home. That’s when we decided to add a twist and make them chocolate cake martinis. Let me tell you—they turned out amazing.
This recipe reminds me so much of her—fun, full of personality, and always ready to celebrate. With its playful garnish and rich, chocolatey flavors, it’s perfect for birthdays, holidays, or whenever you want to treat yourself to something extra special.
So go ahead, make one for yourself, and enjoy it—whether you’re celebrating something big or just hanging out with your besties. Cheers!

Ingredients & substitutions
- Cake vodka – Any cake-flavored vodka will work for this recipe, as they all have a sweet, vanilla-forward flavor. If you can’t find it, vanilla vodka is a great substitute, or you can use regular vodka with a splash of vanilla extract for a similar touch. We used Three Olives Cake Vodka.
- Kahlua – Any coffee liqueur works well in this recipe if Kahlúa isn’t available.
- Creme de Cacao – Either white or dark crème de cacao will work here, depending on your preference.
- Godiva chocolate liqueur – Any chocolate liqueur can be used as a substitute for Godiva. Look for one with a creamy consistency and rich chocolate flavor.
- Half & half – Any brand of half-and-half works perfectly in this recipe. For a dairy-free option, try a coconut or almond milk creamer. You can also substitute with equal parts milk and heavy cream if that’s what you have on hand.
- Chocolate syrup – This is for garnish but it also contributes to the flavor. Any store-bought chocolate syrup or a drizzle of fudge sauce will do the trick, if you don’t have it you can omit this and it will still turn out great.
Making changes to a recipe can result in recipe failure. Any substitutions listed below are simple changes that I believe will work in this recipe, but results are not guaranteed.
