How to make homemade gingerbread syrup

Make the syrup. In a large saucepan, boil water and add brown sugar and molasses. Stir occasionally until sugar has dissolved.

Simmer the spices. Stir in the ginger and spices and simmer for 10-15 minutes. Remove from heat and allow the syrup to cool before transferring it to a storage container.

Bottle the syrup. When the syrup has cooled, strain through a mesh strainer (or a cheese cloth) and transfer to a mason jar or bottle.

Everything you need to know about gingerbread syrup

What can I do with leftover ginger syrup?

If you’ve made your fancy cocktails and have leftover gingerbread syrup, there are still a bunch of different things can do with it! Try it in your coffee or tea, jazz up cold drinks like lemonade or iced tea with a splash of gingerbread syrup. You can drizzle it over ice cream or even a fruit salad. It works well for a meat marinade or as a sauce for a stir-fry sauce. Bake with it, use it in a salad dressing or stir it into yogurt or oatmeal. Seriously, you can do so much with it. You can even add it to a plain club soda for a subtly flavored drink.

How long do infused simple syrups last?

Homemade simple syrup can typically last for up to one month when stored properly in the refrigerator. Make sure to use a clean airtight storage container, remove any mix-ins, and store in the fridge when not using for best results.

Does simple syrup need to boil?

You want to bring the water for simple syrup to boiling and then remove it from the heat. The longer you let the water boil the thicker your simple syrup will become, as the water evaporated.
