Why we love this white peach sangria recipe

This sangria is one of the best batched cocktails to serve this summer. It’s about as refreshing and light as a sangria can be, making it perfect for hot summer days.

You only need a few ingredients and some chopping skills to prepare this simple sangria, and it’s easy to have ready ahead of time when you know you’ll be entertaining.

If you’ve made a Charlie Chaplin cocktail, you probably already have some apricot brandy in your liquor cabinet. Why not use it for this recipe too? The stone fruit flavor translates really well with the peaches in this sangria.

Ingredients & Substitutions

  • White wine – Vouvray is the option we chose for white wine, but a sauvignon blanc is also a great options. Using a fruit forward wine in this recipe helps bring out the peach flavors.
  • Peach nectar – We made our own peach nectar, but you can save some time and use store bought.
  • Apricot brandy – I used apricot brandy, but you can use peach brandy if you’re buying a bottle specifically for this recipe. You can also substitute a peach schnapps or a triple sec if you prefer a lighter sangria.

Making changes to a recipe can result in recipe failure. Any substitutions listed below are simple changes that I believe will work in this recipe, but results are not guaranteed.

Mel’s cocktail tips & tricks

  1. Use a decent bottle of wine. You don’t need something super expensive, but I don’t recommend using the cheapest bottle you can find. You’ll be able to taste the difference.
  2. If you can’t find peach nectar, you can easily make your own with frozen peaches. You’ll need a blender and a strainer, but it’s super easy!

Frequently asked questions

What can I use instead of brandy in white sangria?

White rum, vodka, peach schnapps, elderflower liqueur are all good options if you don’t love brandy. Keep in mind: We used apricot brandy for this recipe which is lighter and sweeter than a regular brandy.

Is Sauvignon Blanc good for white sangria?

We recommend using a wine that is fruit forward.
Sauvignon blanc has a crisp flavor, with bright citrus flavors – the acidity of the wine balances out the sweetness of the fruits and peach nectar.

How long should fruit sit in sangria before serving?

Adding fruit to sangria is not just for a pretty presentation, the fruit pieces infuse their flavor into the sangria as they sit in the liquids. For a minimum we would recommend adding them at least 30 minutes prior to serving so they have the opportunity to macerate. The longer the fruit sits, the more the flavor will intensify.
