Why we love this tequila pina colada

Piña coladas will always be top of my list when it comes to a tropical drink, but I’m not always in the mood for rum. So, lately, I’ve been turning to tequila to change things up a little.
This slightly unexpected, yet still familiar cocktail is a crowd pleaser, and with pantry friendly ingredients, it a great last minute option.

Tequila
Pineapple juice
Cream of coconut
Lime juice

How to make a pina colada with tequila

Shake your cocktail. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add the tequila, cream of coconut, pineapple juice and lime juice. Cover and shake until the drink is nice and cold.

Garnish and serve. Strain into a cocktail glasses filled with ice and garnish with a pineapple slice or some pineapple leaves.

You absolutely can! The tequila adds a distinct depth of flavor you won’t find when it’s made with rum.

Ingredients

2 ounces tequila
2 ounces pineapple juice
1 ½ ounces cream of coconut
½ ounce lime juice
Garnish: pineapple wedge or lime wheel

Instructions

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add cocktail ingredients. Cover and shake until cold.
Strain into cocktail glasses filled with ice and garnish as desired.
